Two identical Beretta 9mm, 72 FS handguns, original one in the left hand and another identical Beretta retrofitted with recoil insert in the right hand were simultaneously fired and video clip was taken using an  Olympus FE 230 7.1 Mega pixel video camera at 30 fps speed.       Comparing before-firing image image (leftside picture) to during-firing ( rightside picture), the uplift of the original handgun in the left hand was outstanding as seen in the right picture while the uplift of the handgun that was retrofitted with Recoil Insert in the right hand was minimal.
Fig.  3.   Up-lift angle is approximated by line of sight position before and during firing.      Felt recoil was violent in the left hand but was barely felt in the right hand..  Both recoil and uplift measurements using in-house-built Recoil Meter ( click future wars button) revealed over 90% reduction by the handgun retrofitted with Recoil Insert .      Higher than 30 fps video photography of  240 fps verified the high efficiency of recoil reduction by the Retrofit Insert in the handgun, rifle, and shotgun as documented below.

     The insert reduces recoil by 95% and fits the needs of the civilian, sportsman, competitor, & the military providing more accuracy and fast second shot a crucial feature in self defense, a matter of life or death.
    For the military, reduced recoil applies when firing single rounds, bursts, or many rounds automatic firing regardless whether shooting from the hip or otherwise. The insert is not a significant extra burden on the soldier because it weighs less than half the weight of the projectile being fired.
      Improved accuracy & faster second shot may be a matter of life or death in defense or can be a valuable edge to the civilian sportsman, hunter, or competitor
     Other than recoil reduction, the insert has no other effect on appearance or performance of the gun whether it  is handgun, rifle, shotgun. 120 mm Mortar , or long cannon..The recoil of long 120mm cannon will be reduced fom 2-3 meter recoil displacement to 20 cm.  The violent recoil of 120mm Mortar will be tamed enough to be mounted on a standard platform on a Jeep or robot.
     Modularity in producing the new whole gun, replacement parts, or field retrofit parts remain unchanged except for one time modification, at a one time cost of less than $10,000.
     Field retrofitting service is performed by trained roaming (rover) technicians or gunsmiths who install the retrofit, test its performance, and adjust it to clients acceptance requirements.

Taming the Wild & Vicious Recoil of the 12-Gauge Shotgun:

    Muzzle brakes are poor recoil reducers.  Their use in rifles is mainly as flash suppressors, a main defense measure of not giving your position away to the enemy or to a sniper. 
    In regard to flash suppression, AAE muzzle brakes ( muzzle fore end  adapter } provide 2 folds more flash suppression plus some felt-recoil reduction.

AAE recoil frontend adapters reduce recoil
and increase flash suppression.

     AAE Muzzle brakes and adapters provide moderate felt and none-felt recoil reduction and they are very effective flash suppressors, a protective defense measure when applied to soldier’s  or to battle-field assault shotgun but does not have a parallel merit or customer acceptance to a hunting shotgun user.

Why Recoil Reduction is Needed for Civilian or Military use:

    Among the benefits of AAE Recoil Reducer Insert are the followings:

1. Faster second shot, a good edge to hunter, police, competitor and  a better defense feature to the military.

     The insert is non-electrical, very reliable, adaptive to fit all rounds and every gun regardless of high firing speed, it out survives the gun, No failing and no degrading. Care needed is as for the gun itself.
     Field retrofit, tune up, & testing is within 20 minutes.
     Minimum group # of retrofits is 200.
     Copying protection is negotiable but usually it is by the licensee. The Patent covers the making as well as the use of the insert. So the infringing reverse-engineer maker as well as the end user can be prosecuted.
     Licensing requires % royalty plus little down payment affordable by the licensee.. The lion share of future business and profits belong to the licensee.

     AAE fore end recoil adapter of moderate recoil reduction reduces the flash by more than 98% and it works with the silencer to substantially prevent giving away position.

Test & Evaluation:

      A US test facility (Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey) recently developed a device that measures recoil reduction from various designs applied to small arms.  However, experience has shown that there is unusually a long waiting time before a system can be tested at Picatinny.
      For practical R&D needs, AAE has developed an in-house reliable recoil meter with a calibration curve generated by the force of dropping 2 & 5 Kg weights from 1, 2, 4 feet high.

     Over 500 years of violent recoil experience in shotguns, handguns, and cannons has led us to believe that the recoil is inevitable and is everlasting. Without breaking any law of physics or those of Newton, we say a new day is dawning and the live demonstration of CalTeck & M16 rifles, Beretta 9mm handgun, and 12-gauge shotgun can outweigh the 5 centuries myth and self-inflicted brain wash on firearms recoil.

Recoil Reduction Value in 120mm Mortar Cannon in Urban Battle:

    To reduce collateral damage, artillery smart bombs are rerouted to fall on target from above, assuming no counter measures and assuming even winds factors a  none existing  environment.  Neither targeting nor minimal collateral damage are assured with long range artillery.
    However, a mortar mounted on a jeep inside or outside the city battle zone can deliver their smart bombs with  natural fall on target from above, with more accuracy, and at a closer range.
